For many students with disabilities and their families, the conversation about cameras in classrooms has been shaped by painful experiences, fear, and the need for greater safety and accountability. SECAC has advocated for the exploration and implementation of classroom cameras as one important step toward providing transparency, protecting vulnerable students, and helping families feel that their concerns are heard.

SECAC has also advocated with Frederick County elected officials and supported legislation intended to strengthen protections, accountability, and transparency for students with disabilities.

Today, FCPS is moving forward with a phased expansion of cameras in classrooms, representing meaningful progress while recognizing the experiences and voices of the students and families who helped bring this issue forward.
