Mission
SECAC works together to put children first. The Committee focuses on open and honest communication, improving effectiveness and accountability, identifying systemic issues, and advocating for appropriate resources. In collaboration with Frederick County Public Schools leadership of special education, parents, FCPS staff and community members, the Committee strives to facilitate positive changes in the delivery of special education services and the success and achievements of students with disabilities.

Who is on SECAC?
In Frederick County, parents comprise 50% of the SECAC membership, FCPS staff comprises 25%, and community members comprise the balance, with up to three high school students able to participate. The Director of Special Education Instruction and Student Performance, Director of Special Education Specialized Programs and Supports, a Board of Education Member, and a Partners for Success Coordinator participate as non-voting members.
Meetings are open to the public. Public comment is encouraged in person or via our public comment form.
